This year’s mega-event is coming up soon!

2nd Newcastle Jubilee Development Lecture

Keynote speaker, Kevin Watkins
Executive Director of the Overseas Development Institute
together with John Grundy, writer and broadcaster

Newcastle University, Thursday 27th November, 5.30-6.30pm

European Elections: Our major efforts to canvas and assess the policies of
the candidates in the European Elections were very well received by our
supporters! You can still access the information at

Passing of two Jubilee giants: The deaths have occurred this year of two of
the Co-Founders of the Jubilee debt campaign, Bill Peters and Martin Dent.
In each case, I was asked to write an obituary and was deeply moved to learn
more of their lives. I subsequently attended Martin’s memorial service at
Keel University. You can find these statements on our website.

New Officers: Judith Sadler has stepped down from the committee. She’s been
a wonderful chairperson and we’re grateful for all she has done for us.
Kevin Haigh is now our Chair and Jenny Armstrong Vice-Chair.

New Patrons: The following have agreed to become ‘Patrons’ of NE-CAP – Rt
Revd Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham; Beth Fahrat, Regional Secretary of the
TUC; and Guy Opperman, Conservative MP for Hexham. Our thanks to all three for risking their reputations by being associated with us!
