Newcastle Jubilee Development Lecture – open to all

When: Thursday 27th November, 2014, at 5.30pm
Where: Curtis Auditorium, Newcastle University

Executive Director of the Overseas Development Institute
“Challenges in expanding opportunity in education”

With closing remarks by the inimitable, Mr John Grundy, writer and broadcaster

Special Guest, H.E. Mr Joslyn Raphael Whiteman
High Commissioner of Grenada

Chair, Professor Chris Brink, Vice-Chancellor

Co-sponsored by Newcastle University; Anglican Diocese of Newcastle; and Jubilee Debt Campaign UK

With the support of City of Newcastle; University Chaplaincy; and (of course) North East CALL TO ACTION

The aim of this initiative, which is unique throughout the UK, is simple – it is to promote support for the endeavour to: “free our fellow men, women and children from the abject and dehumanising conditions of extreme poverty” (UN Millennium Declaration, September 2000)

The inaugural event last year was given by Baroness Glenys Kinnock and was an outstanding success and we are delighted to be able to announce that this year’s lecture will be given by Kevin Watkins, one of the world’s great champions of the drive against ‘extreme poverty’.
